HOW TO PREVENT NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF GLOBALIZATION
Increase the Quality of Human Resources
It is common knowledge if exist human resources in today's
era of decline. It is caused due to lack of education in this country. For the
sake of overcoming the current era is getting worse due to the globalization of
our nation as a successor shall be to promote the importance of quality
education, this gap does not mean we have to do things that are not right for
us to do in the world of education as bribe when entering an existing agency
such as schools, universities and even civil servants. For that we must promote
effective educational programs to improve the quality of human resources next
generation. Now days the decreased human resources is not become a private
secret but public secret.
Increasing the soul the spirit of unity, unity, and nationalism
We as a nation itself obliged to increase the sense of
nationalism would love to own the land. Because in this era of globalization
humans easily affected by these forward-paced world. For the prosperity of a
nation's own people should be able to bring even boast their own country to the
international arena.
Preserve the
Customs and Culture of the Region
We shall and must preserve our culture. If we
do not preserve the cultures that exist in our country will disappear and be
replaced by western culture. For that we should be able to filter the culture
that comes into our country. If the culture is already ugly we should leave,
especially if it's self-defeating even though it is the trend of today. To that
end each of us as citizens - we are obliged to preserve their culture which we
may be able to develop it to the international scene.

One of the Examples of Globalization
As we know nowadays, technology is more sophisticated
than before. Every human in this world feels the effect of the technology
itself. If we see around us many gadgets are being used either by kids are
adults. Even, experts also use gadgets for their particular interests.
Technology also affects International Relations. For instance, country A
wants to communicate with country B. Country A will communicate with country B
through telephone or any other communication devices instead of leaving for
country B as it will cost a lot of money. Technology makes international
relations is easier than before.
POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF GLOBALIZATION
Positive Impact of Globalization
1. Increased
competition
In this Hi-Tech
Era that we call the technology competition era, each company is race t develop
the quality for their stuff that they want t sell. Because of that the investor
and developer competed to upgrade their stuff until the people can use easily.
This is competition is not just in the national but in international it for to
show where is the capable company to competed in the international area. Like
competition among Android, Apple and Blackberry that in the end Android and
Apple can beat Blackberry.
2. Disclosure
of Information
In this
globalization era we can easily to search any of information. We can search
that information with the technology that we know as internet. With internet
the news around the world can easily spread and every people can know about
that. For example the news about Kelud Eruption that happen in February 13th,
2014. It can spread around in second.
3. Spread
of Culture
4. Spread
of Education
One of the most
powerful effects of globalization is the spread of education. Today, you can
move in the search of the best educational facilities in the world, without any
hindrance. A person who living in the America, Europe, Asian, Australian, or
African can go across the continent for new experience in education can school
or collages anywhere they want it can’t be found in their homeland. If one is
interested, one can even get a specialization in subjects not indigenous to his
country and then spread that knowledge to the home country. A good example of
that is how the American managers went to Japan to learn the best practices in
the field of mass production and incorporated that knowledge in their own
production units and they can improve their skill to become a good one then
another. More experience is good and they capable to solve any problem they
face from their experience.

Negative Impact of Gslobalization
1.
Westernizes
In westernization there are so many negative effects, one of the negative
effect from westernization is the way we use a cloth that not match with the
ethics it not mean that all the western culture is bad but we must filter which
one is good and bad, because if we can’t filter we can drag into the bad one.
2.
Individualism
In this globalization era all is practice and we did not need help from
somebody again. But the essentially we life absolutely need help from somebody
because we are a social creature. The technology increasing so fast so human
can create a robot to help their duty and all is about machine. This is not
good because if we use that technology sometime there is an error problem so we
need to repair that. With the globalization is not mean we are become an
individual people that rule by technology.
3.
Social
Gap
It’s become a public secret if there is a boundary between the rich guy
and the poor guy. In one side globalization open the opportunity for the people
who have a lot financial like in education if the rich guy sometime use bribery
to enter some institution but the poor guy is beat by the rich guy thought the
poor guy is capable in that institution. It’s so hard for the poor guy to
survive in their life. Therefore in globalization open the big boundaries
between the people who rich with the people that poor.
4.
Consumptive
Lifestyle
In this globalization era, people tend to live
hedonic or can we call life in a way that is wasteful. In today's world that
causes humans live in Hedonic, namely the advancement of Technology in the
increasingly sophisticated and increasingly make ends meet. But sometimes
people didn’t control his desire to purchase goods that are not essential to
his life each - each. For that we should be able to choose which beneficial
consumptive life and also not. If we are not able to filter out the desires of
this life undoubtedly will be more difficult.
FACTORS THAT LED TO GLOBALIZATION
FACTORS THAT LED TO GLOBALIZATION
1 1. Open-economy system of the states
Open-economy system means that people in a country can do business or trade their goods or services to another countries in worldwide communities. This can be one of characteristics of globalization and also can be one of factors of globalization. Why it is also included as one of the factors? Because the presence of the open-economy can indirectly enforce each country in the world to compete to another countries, so they won’t be left behind. From that competing, which is did by each individual or country, can force us to a change (globalization). For instance, in trade field, where the production and financial investment force countries to accept and market their products to all nations without any protection from their country so later the products from another countries will be easily obtained. From there, it can be created as the dependency between countries in production and distribution until the marketing and from that dependency it self, the globalization can be made.
2. The
rise of the more advanced people mindset.
Globalization also can be happened because of societies asked for it. Society seems to have a change that they actually never felt before. Globalization is something that cause society whether they want or do not want they should have to follow it so they will try to change everything in all fields from the smallest up to the biggest. They feel challenged to make something new, unique, and sophisticated. For instance, society no longer feels bothered or hard while doing anything because they’ve created a change creatively. And also their mindset constantly wants to raise or gain the knowledge. Because they already gained the knowledge, they can develop the world into globalization. Not forget to mention that the work ethics of people, which are more productive, dare to compete, responsible, and dare to bear the risk, are also considered as the drivers of globalization.
3. The
rapid growth of information technology
This can be one of the effects and also can be categorized as the catalyst of globalization process. The rapid growth of information technology can be happened because of the development of the knowledge that can produce the communication and transportation tools. Those kinds of tools can cause the mobility in many aspects in human life and can lead us to the global connectivity, and of course can cause globalization.
4. The
encouragement of the inter-state transfer
The encouragement of the inter-state transfer is also categorized that can encourage globalization. Since the presence of this displacement, the associated countries can perform an interaction and that at the first we only know the environment that we live but finally because of the overseas travel, we can add the connection with another country and also improve our knowledge about that country. For example, if we wind some people who want to travel to the other country because they have some business out there or another purposes it can invite the investors from another country or maybe from developed countries to invest their funds in developing countries and maybe they can help the developing countries becoming more awakened. So they can influence the developing countries to raise globalization
5. Integration of the world economy
States also requires the integration of the world economy in which they can exchange profits. Current economic activity leads to a weightless economy, one of which is the exchange of information. Knowledge-based economy also driven the state of globalization in which they are required to continue to create the potential to compete with other countries because many aspects of the current economic working through networks that cross national borders.
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF GLOBALIZATION
CHARATERISTICS OF GLOBALIZATION:
1. Transparency and Limitless
There are the changes in all fields that can be happened
rapidly and can cover all nations around the world like covering a wide
territory. So each state and each of its residents have a chance to get the
influence of the incoming of foreign cultures or the influences in all fields
freely which can bring good effects and bad effects for each individual and the
group itself in line with the supporting of advances in technology and
information. The main role is a developed country where they do spread lot of
information and they influence the developing countries. If we talk about the
limitless or borderless, we can conclude that every country has the right to
break the national obstacles. Each country may freely conduct diplomacy or
cooperation with other countries, regardless of time and range. We also can
openly see what happens out there without being limited by space and time.
2. Connectivity and Integration
2. Connectivity and Integration
These characteristic is marked by each
region or country has been connected with the world by way of 'breaking' the
national boundaries. Each individual and state start building a connection or
link between one society to another, and also from one country to another
country. In another word is about “International
Cooperation” which consists of the existence of the
multinational companies, regional and global organizations. There will be lot
of corporations between those companies and the increasing of business
performance. It also includes to the existence of international and
international non-governmental organizations. We also usually see that there is
the cooperation between governmental organization and the others organization that
provided in its own country or another countries.
3. The
Existence of Science and Technology
Nowadays, we often find independent
people who are smart, creative, and critical. They start to create many ideas
to support all of aspects that included in daily lives. People have started to think
critically, as well as no more think about taboos. They seemed to have started
to think globally and more developed.
In this changes, will also happen the changes of space and
time. We can see that the changes that already happened can be in all fields
like for examples are transportations and communications. The changes of
information technology also can give the effects to another fields like
education, economics, politics, and also cultures, so not only in
transportation and communication fields. Examples: now we easily do traveling
around the world because of the presence of the more sophisticated aircraft
technology that can take us to everywhere just only take a short time.
Consequently, we can use this opportunity to raise some advantages from another
country. The most changes of technology that can be felt now are there are many
global and sophisticated communication medias like hand phones, satellite
televisions, and also tablets that we can hold wherever we are. Those
communication media will be increasingly felt if it is added with the presence
of Internet as its supporter. With the existence of the science, we can develop
the technology.
4. The Development of Mass Media and Culture
Interaction
We can see that in the era of globalization is also
characterized by the development of mass media and the increasing of cultural
interaction. The development of the mass media for examples is through
television, movies, music, and transmission international news and sports.
Given the mass media, we easily learn, exchange information, and access other
cultures outside of our culture. So that today we can feel a mixture of western
and eastern cultures such as in the field of fashion and food. For example: in
Indonesia has started popping up a lot of fast food restaurants which are
brought by western culture such as: Pronto, Domino’s Pizza, Mc Donald’s, etc.
Not only in the fields of food, we also can feel the incoming of the western
music’s that already spread to Indonesia.
5. Globalization of Economic Activities
In this era of globalization began to
appear a lot of free trade and the government here does not too control anymore
about the trade. But they still provide the rules and regulation that guides
the free trade. And now there is freedom of the businessman and factory owners
to set up industry and trade either in their country or abroad. That is why
nowadays we can see lot of the big industrials standing wisely on the top of
our lands. There is also the free barter of investment, commodities, services,
and technologies between all nations around the world.
6. Competition and Dependency between Developed Countries and Developing
Countries
The strong flow of information and
technology led to the intense of competitiveness. People who do not have the
advantage will be eliminated and will be the target to the actors of the
changes in the global situation. It can also occur in the State where there is
a gap between today's developed countries and developing countries. Developed countries dominate the
information flow in the world, so it causes the dependency among developing
countries themselves.

PREFACE AND DEFINITION OF GLOBALIZATION
Not
everyone recognized the changes that happened in our society. Few people care
about the things that changed our world. Basically, there are changes that
happened in every particular aspect in our world such as politics, society, economics, cultures, sciences, technologies and many other things. We cannot
actually denie the changes that happened in our world. In this 21st
century, the globe has rapidly changed the world. We
all know the word globalization. Globalization is changes that rapidly changed
the world. Although we know the word globalization, many people did not
actually know the meaning of globalization itself. Not to mention, they usually
did not actually know what globalization itself is. That is what basically
happened in our world. We did not clearly recognized globalization, although it
happened in every second of our lives.
As
we mentioned above, many aspects that changes because of globalization, for
instance in a term of culture. Culture is something that cannot be separated
with us. In 1960s, Indonesia was still holding their culture. Many Indonesian
back then knew about folk songs, traditional dresses, traditional houses, and
many other things that describe the real Indonesia. But now, few people know
about Indonesian culture. Not many people know about Indonesian folk songs,
traditional dresses, traditional houses and others. Indonesian nowadays,
especially in our generation, has been influenced by west culture. That is one
of the things that we concerned about. Not only that, if we seek from technologies perspective, we all spontaneously remembered about our gadgets. Telephones, mobile phones, computers, laptops, computer tablets, cameras, camcorders and others, are the things that people cannot live without nowadays. Back in 1970s, many people used letters to communicate with someone who is far away. It took days or weeks to wait for the reply. But now, we can communicate with others in a second. We can call, text, chat, video call and many other things that make us easy to communicate with others. This is also the thing that we are going to talk about. From this you can finally realize how rapid the changes can be. Globalization might not be thing that we usually see, but it might be the thing we usually feel. Everything surrounds us is globalization. Weather we realized it or not, it is still globalization. We cannot actually deny that. By this, we would like to explain about globalization itself.
DEFINITION OF GLOBALIZATION
Started from the bottom, now we here. Globalization is a word that
we commonly hear. Globalization is something that actually around us.
Globalization happens every second of our life. It happens in every aspects of
our life such as economics, politics, technologies, cultures, and many other
things. So, what is exactly the meaning of globalisation itself.
Globalization
itself comes from the word “global”, which means universal. However,
globalization also refers to “globalize”, which means making something into
global. The word globalization itself is actually known for the first time, in
1930’s publication “Towards New Education”, which drove many people to
education interest. Here are the definitions of globalization from scholars:
·
Roland Robertson, stated that globalization is the
compression of the world and the intensification of consciousness of the world
as a whole
·
Martin Albrow and Elizabeth King, stated that globalization
is all those processes by which the peoples of the world incorporated into a
single world society
·
Anthony Giddens, stated that globalization can
thus be defined as the intensification of worldwide social relations which link
distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events
occulting many miles away and vice versa
·
David Held,
stated that globalization could be
located on a continuum with the local, national and regional. However at the
same time, globalization referred to those spatial-temporal process of change
which underpin a transformation in the organization of human affairs by linking
together and expanding human activity across regions and continents
·
Thomas Larsson, stated that globalization is the
process of world shrinkage of distances getting shorter, things moving closer,
and talked about increasing ease with which somebody on one side of the world
can interact with somebody on the other side of the world
Based on Jan Aart Scholte statement, there are
many definitions as well as types in globalizations:
·
Internationalization: Globalization defined as the increasing of
international relations
·
Liberalization: Globalization also defined as the decreasing
number of limitation within countries
·
Universalism: Globalization also defined as spreading either
material or immaterial all around the world
·
Westernization: a form of universalism with spreading the thoughts and cultures from the west so it becomes global
